Sports Performance

Our Gym

The primary goal of Spartan Sports and Wellness is to produce highly skilled athletes through designing and implementing a structured program, which delivers results by improving sports performance and reducing the occurrence of injuries on the field/court. Our program is designed for Spartan athletes to achieve peak physical performance by utilizing strength, power, speed, agility reaction , flexibility/mobility, correctives, recovery, plyometric and Olympic style exercises.

The program design criteria at Spartan that we follow for all athletes are the following :

  • Is it effective ?
  • Is it purposeful?
  • Is it effcient?
  • Is it safe?

What is an Effective Training Program?
To be effective, one must evaluate and train all components of athleticism according to the demands and qualities of the INDIVIDUAL in a progressive manner.  There are no “Secrets”,” short cuts”, or “magic pill”.  Training protocols must physiologically sound and include the fundamental principles of proper training, eating, rest and lifestyle. To compromise any of those factors would likewise compromise results.  Despite what training program is used, it is the intense and intelligent application of EFFORT that is most responsible for results, not the program.  The bottom line is and always will be, an issue of consistency and hard work – not the modality or equipment being used.  Our athletes operate their training program in hard working competitive environment that we create for success optimal success,

What is a Purposeful Training Program?
Training should be oriented to be purposeful, functional and transferable.  It will never be our goal to create Olympic weight lifters, power lifter, bodybuilders or runners.  It is our goal to create highly healthy, strong, fast and explosive athletes and maximize EACH athletes physical potential.  Training should be about developing enhanced levels of performance and to prepare the body to meet the demands necessary to successfully compete, injury free at the highest levels.

What is an Efficient Training Program?

As stated, all progressive strength training protocols are productive – none more significant than the other; however not all are equally efficient.  Workouts should be relativlely short with an emphasis on intensity, not duration.  Our athletes work at maximum efforts in order to achieve maximum results.  The training goal should be to  spend the minimal amount of time to derive the maximal amount of benefits.  This allows for more time for rest, recovery and study time for athletes but also helps our families out considering everyone’s busy schedule.

What is a Safe Training Program?
Programs that are safe enhance the physical potential of an athlete rather than endanger their well-being.  Many well indented, not well educated coaches prescribe dangerous exercise protocols.  One must assess orthopedic risk and risk of injury when prescribing exercises.  Training should always reduce the risk of injuries not be a cause of them.
